Installation of Tube well/ Bore Well/Hand Pumps for Safe drinking Water In Sundarban , Birbhum and Jaharkhand State is Also.

To Supply of potable drinking water for community is a major challenge within the project areas. As the areas are very near to the Bay of Bengal, so salinity is a major challenge and tribal area in Birbhum. Portable water is available only at the depth of 1000 ft to 1200 ft. So, the construction of tube well is expensive which cannot afford by the people individually.
Therefore, the availability of safe drinking water is a major challenge to the community in our proposed villages. Non-availability of drinking water is also creating a challenge for sanitation scenario in the rural areas. The lack of awareness and absence of strong peoples Intuition to address the safe drinking water issues is a major hindrance for proper hygiene in the project areas.
South Sundarban Janakalyan Sangha (SSJS) installed 357 nos. tube wells as per the plan envisaged by us by installation of Hand Pumps/ Bore Well/ Hand Pumps in the Sundarban and Birbhum in last few Years. And more than 400000 people benefited from this Tube well.

• Time of the women to fetch water is saved and they can spend their precious time in other household activities.
• Safe drinking water is available for the target community.
• Women and children are less sufferer from water scarcity.
• Water borne diseases are lessening and cost of medication is saved.
• Quality water is available for drinking, cooking and cleaning.
• Empowerment of village communities in terms of better physical health.
• Spreading of awareness among the communities on hygiene and cleanliness.

Construction of Individual Household Latrine (IHHL)

South Sundarban Janakalyan Sangha (SSJS) has been construction of more than 3000 nos Individual House Hold Latrine (IHHL) for the SC, ST, OBC, and Minority and Poorest of the Poor People who are economic ultra-poor & Poverty line of rural India. These groups are socially excluded because they belong to the lowest strata of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Minority Muslim community. They are deprived from mainstream development paradigm in its all sense. Politically these communities are disregarded by all political parties and culturally they are backward. They are illiterate, landless labourers suffer from different types of taboos, superstitions, ignorance, traditional believes and practices. So more than 3000 IHHL for this People and 3013nos IHHL X 5nos family Members = 15000 people direct benefited.
